UK countersued former men’s basketball coach Billy Gillispie on Thursday in Franklin Circuit Court, according to a UK news release. UK claims it doesn’t owe Gillispie pay because he never signed a contract.

The news comes one day after Gillispie filed a lawsuit in Dallas that targets the UK Athletics Association. Gillispie’s suit says that under his memorandum of understanding, he should be paid $1.5 million each year for four of the five years left on the deal.
