Former UK men’s basketball coach sues school

Former UK men’s basketball coach Billy Gillispie sued the school Wednesday, seeking at least $6 million he says is owed to him on his deal for being fired without cause, according to a story on ESPN.com.

Gillispie says that under his memorandum of understanding, he should be paid $1.5 million each year for four of the five years left on the deal. Also included in the suit is the request for an undisclosed amount of punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, court costs and interest.

The lawsuit was filed in a federal court in Dallas.
