Patrick Patterson to return for junior year

UK forward Patrick Patterson has withdrawn his name from the NBA Draft and will return to UK for his junior season, according to UK Athletics.

Patterson entered his name into the draft but never hired an agent, leaving open the possibility to return to the Cats next season.

The Huntington, W.Va., native averaged 17.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game last season en route to earning first team All-Southeastern Conference honors by the coaches. Patterson will be joined on the front line by two highly touted incoming freshmen in Parade All-American DeMarcus Cousins and Daniel Orton, the No. 22 prospect in the country, according to Rivals.com.

The Cats are still waiting to hear from junior guard Jodie Meeks, who like Patterson submitted his name to the draft but did not hire an agent. Meeks will have until June 15 to decide on whether he will withdraw his name from the draft or not.
