A complaint has been filed to SG against presidential candidate Ryan Smith.
Smith confirmed the complaint, but declined to give any further detail, including cause.
Smith and running mate Kelsey Hayes received 2,286 votes in last week’s SG election, 148 votes more than runner-up Colby Khoshreza and running mate Laura Newton. Tyler Owen and running mate Jimmy Uebel received 253 votes.
Khoshreza said he did not file the complaint and that he and his campaign declined further comment. Owen said no one from his campaign filed the complaint, and he knew little about the actual complaint beyond that.
Richard Becker, the SG Election Board chairman, did not know the nature of the complaint. Mary Beth Hicks, the elections investigator, could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
Student Government Supreme Court will hold a hearing on the complaint at 8 p.m. Thursday in the UK College of Law Courtroom. The hearing is open to all UK students. Tony Tagavi, head of the seven-member court, said he did not know the nature of the complaint.
