SG election begins Wednesday

Weeks of campaigning will end Thursday night for the top spot in UK’s Student Government.

Three candidates are running in the bid for the SG presidency: Colby Khoshreza, Tyler Owen and Ryan Smith. All three plan on handing out campaign fliers this week with polling information and solicitations for votes.

There will be no referendums on this year’s ballots because SG sees no pressing issues calling for them, said Sye Hickey, SG’s deputy chief of staff for communications.

Although the election will run similarly to those years before this one, the ballots have been changed slightly, Hickey said. Instead of the same order of candidates on every ballot, the ballots will be randomized.

UK’s SG elections begin Wednesday at 9 a.m. and continue through Thursday at 6 p.m.

Students can vote at the Student Center or the White Hall Classroom Building on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Students can also vote on Thursday at the Student Center and the W.T. Young Library from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

For students unable to get to these locations during these times, the polls will open on the SG Web site (www.uksga.org) at 9 a.m. Wednesday and will close at 6 p.m. Thursday.
