Mississippi State tops LSU, heads to SEC final

TAMPA, Fla. — In the Southeastern Conference Tournamet semifinal, Mississippi State won a battle of futility against No. 20 Louisiana State to advance to the tournament’s final round.

The Bulldogs shot a dismal 33.3 percent from the field — better than LSU’s 31 percent. Neither team committed many turnovers (LSU had seven, MSU had six) or doomed themselves with poor defense. Mississippi State just outlasted the Tigers, who faded fast down the stretch, including a single play on which the Tigers committed two techincal fouls.

LSU advanced to face Mississippi State after defeated the Cats on Friday. Mississippi State reached the semifinal after topping Georgia on Thursday and South Carolina on Friday.
