Tomorrow’s Heroes

I think what strikes me the most about the young men and women in ROTC and the military, is their level of dedication to a cause. When I was shooting pictures of the Pershing Rifle Drill meet a few weeks ago, this young guy caught my eye in the corner. When I looked at him I could see the dedication in his eyes to his cause, and his country. And although I'm sure that when he goes home and takes off his hat and his dress uniform, he plays video games and laughs with his friends like every other sophomore in high school; but when I looked at him I couldn't help but see a man much older than what was before me. And I silently thanked him for that dedicated gleam in his eye, for the loyalty he represents, and for the hero he will become. Photo by Britney McIntosh | Staff
