For the second year in a row, the UK men’s soccer team can boast that it has on the best defensive player on the field during conference play — literally.
The league office named junior defender Barry Rice Conference USA Defender of the Year for the second consecutive season Wednesday. In addition to Rice, freshman Marcus dos Santos was named Newcomer of the Year by the league.
Junior midfielder Jason Griffiths earned first team All-Conference honors, while senior midfielder Masumi Turnbull and junior goalkeeper Dan Williams were named to the third team. Freshman Brad Walker was named to the All-Freshman team. Rice was also named to the All-Conference first team.
