States should take stance to make abortion illegal

I can’t help but wonder how abortion is still legal when there are laws that address fetal homicide. In 25 states, there are laws that deal with criminally negligent homicide, murder or manslaughter if an unborn baby dies due to a drunk driver, a shooting, etc. These 25 states have “full-coverage” laws, meaning that, regardless of time in the pregnancy, it’s considered homicide. Ten other states have laws that protect unborn babies at different times during the pregnancy. Thirty-five states have laws regarding fetal homicide, yet the mother can kill her unborn child if she wants to.

Something here doesn’t add up. If it’s wrong for someone else to end a baby’s life before it even leaves the womb, then it should be wrong for the mother to do the same. Life is a very precious gift, and we need to preserve it in as many ways as possible. Isn’t it time we protect babies during their most helpless time? I think so, because I was given the precious gift of life. I thank God every day that my birth mother chose to give me life and put me up for adoption rather than abort me.
